Job Title: Mainframe Developer.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA (4 days onsite/week)
Duration: 6 Months.
Candidates must have permanent work authorization in the U.S.
Key responsibilities:
Application development: Design code and test new applications for mainframe systems.
Maintenance and upgrades: Update, maintain and modify existing applications to ensure they continue to meet business requirements.
Troubleshooting and debugging: Analyse and fix bugs and issues within mainframe software to ensure optimal performance.
Collaboration: Work with other developers, IT teams, and business analysts to implement and support projects.
Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation and user manuals.
System analysis: Evaluate and recommend changes to the mainframe system, sometimes involving cost-effective project proposals.
Key Skills And Languages
Programming languages: COBOL & JCL
Databases: DB2 & VSAM
Technical skills: Understanding of batch processing, online transaction processing OLTP and capacity management is crucial.
Soft skills: Strong communication, attention to detail, data analysis and problem-solving skills are essential.
